Hello everyone, here is something to really think about:

I logged into the UFCW Local 135 website and on the home page I found a button
That reads “MARCH 2011” http://www.ufcw135.org/ when I clicked on the button
A page from UFCW Local 770 appears: http://ufcw770.org/get_educated/updates

UPCOMING AREA MEETIMNGS. They are between San Fernando, and Ventura.

One of many questions,

Question:
Why is important for Local 135 members to know when Local 770 will hold meetings?

..at the bottom of the same page you will find a picture of Secretary Treasurer Mr. Diamond.

Question:

Mr. Diamond was forced to resign effective September 01, 2010. Why then Local 770 continue to use Mr. Diamond picture on the union website? To the best of my knowledge the new Secretary Treasures is Mr. John Grant.

In theory: Mr. Rick Icaza aka “El President” is about to retire, with Mr. Diamond out of the picture they will need a new president. I know for a fact that the UFCW International Really Really likes Mickey Kasparian, therefore a merger between 135 and 770 could be in the works. That will definitely prevent any outsider to try to rock the boat.

Anyone care to share knowledge, opinions, point of view etc..

Thank You Ross for raising this issue.....

Recently I was informed as to the “sudden” & “mysterious” changing of the guard @ UFCW Local #770 at the Secretary Treasurer position which was held for many years by Rodney Diamond. I am very curious as to what has taken place?

For those of you who have followed this thread: Sinister Plot or Justified Trusteeship, http://forums.uncharted.ca/viewtopic.php?t=1100&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
are aware of the Colossal Cluster F / Sinister Plot orchestrated between our UFCW I.U. and UFCW Local’s #8, #770 & #1036, which ultimately resulted in the three (3) UFCW Local Unions consummating a Merger.

Quote:
For your information and review, here is the link to review the Agreement of Merger between UFCW Local’s #1036 & #770 and UFCW Local’s #1036& 8GS.

http://www.uncharted.ca/images/users/ssigurdur/ufcw1036_merger_agreement.pdf

Specifically, what I find that is so puzzling about this entire situation is the amount of specificity that UFCW Local #770 detailed in the Agreement of Merger outlining that “if” President Icaza was to leave during the term of the Merger Agreement, Secretary Treasurer Rod Diamond would become the “heir apparent” to the Throne / Presidency @ UFCW Local #770.

By contrast, if you notice, UFCW Local 8 didn’t make any mention of the individual who would have replaced their President during the term of Local 8’s Merger Agreement.

Clearly, in my opinion, UFCW Local 770’s President Rick Icaza intentions were to retire as President, sometime during this Merger Agreement!

Quote:
Note: Here are some excerpts from the Agreement of Merger.

II. OFFICERS

(3). “In order to ensure a fair and orderly transition, and to maintain stability, any vacancy in the office of President of Local 770 during the term of this Merger Agreement shall be filled by Rodney Diamond.”

(4). “Local 770 shall hold nominations and an election of officers during the period from January 1, 2012, through June 30, 2012, for a three year-term of office commencing on July 1, 2012. The officers to be elected shall be President, Secretary-Treasurer, Recorder and Executive Board Vice Presidents".

Additionally, here is UFCW Local 770's website link for their staff indicating that the new Sec. Treas. is an individual by the name of John Grant. Mr. Grant is identified in the UFCW Local 770’s 2009 LM2 Report as a Vice President and In-House Counsel.

Soooooo.... what is the rest of the story as it pertains to Rodney Diamond's suddent departure from UFCW Local 770 & the "possibility" as to a Merger between UFCW Local 135 & UFCW Local 770??

To be continued....

JB,
In reference to Mr. Diamond’s he was forced out from the Secretary Treasurer position because of Lawsuit, Age and Sex Discrimination. However, Mr. Diamond’s remain with Local 770 in the capacity of consultant, with full stipend and benefits until Dec 31, 2010.

President Jacques Loveall, will not be challenged by anyone he got a job for life.

Not sooo fast, they hire an artist to make life size sculptures of “El President”, the statue will be place at the head of the table in the conference room. President Rick Icaza then, will retire physically, but not in spirit. The I.U. Loves Kasparian, they think that Kasparian can do no wrong, that is how Kasparian comes into place, merge the two locals no election needed. One problem with this scenario, will President Jacques Loveall allowed this to take place without ruin his ego?

In other UFCW matter, UFCW Local 5 President Ron Lind is on the move again, word is that, they will merge with a smaller local in Northen California.

UFCW Local 555 in Oregon is on fire, and the I.U. can’t stop the flames
More later....

Note: Since I do not know Local 770's's specific policy as it pertains to President Icaza & Sec. Treas. Diamond's expenses, allowances, etc., I will be using their “total amount” of monies listed on their LM2 Report.

Please refer to their respective yearly LM2 report for their “detailed amount” of allowances, disbursements, etc.

Note: I apologize in advance for any inadvertent errors or omissions and the applicable LM2 Report for Mr. Icaza & Mr. Diamond shall govern.

Ross...., keep in mind that the Merger Vote Meetings are on going. Local 5 still has meetings in Salinas, on October 20, 2010 & Camarillo on October 21, 2010.

I do not know UFCW Local 101's meeting schedule.

Local 5 will not announce anything until they have completed the Merger Vote Meetings.

Will keep you posted.

It is my understanding that UFCW Local 5 and UFCW Local 101 will be finalizing their Merger Vote on Thursday, November 4, 2010.

One would assume that UFCW Local 5 will announce the results on their website?????

Update on UFCW Local 555 .
Friday, November 5, 2010
Consume with Passion

Last night's Executive Board meeting was unlike any I had attended to date. There was a spirit of victory in the air, as if, by some special power, Dan and Jeff knew the outcome of the vote that took place throughout the state last month. On the table, for those of you just joining the conversation, were two major changes in the way things are done. And for those same people, we suggested you vote no on those proposals.
