These idiot, moronic republicans sit on the Science, Space and Technology committee. Just absolutely unbelievable. It is not only the height of offensive, it is dangerous and madness that these imbeciles are in any position of authority and hold the future of the earth in their ignorant hands. Even more pathetic, Americans voted them into office and concur with their world view. How insane is that.

Warming temperatures are cause for the expansion of tick habitat and the massive increase in Lyme disease cases. But, the increase in all insect transmitted diseases will increase worldwide because of climate change/global warming.

It is getting hotter (126 degrees, but it's a dry heat). 106 degrees in San Francisco is unreal, but it happened last year.

Monsanto, maker of Round up, loses court battle and ordered to pay 289 million in damages to dying man. I'm sure it will be appealed and he will die (doctors didn't think he'd make it through the trail) long before it is settled. Monsanto has big bucks.
https://www.bbc.com/news/amp/world-us-canada-45152546
and, this is an old article (9 years old), but it says that in 2011 88,000 pounds of glyphosate (round up) was in the U.S. Since then it has been named a probable carcinogen and banned in many countries. It's in our water, our air, and many foods--from Cheerios to baby food to Ben & Jerry's.

Farmers are spraying it on crops right before harvest to hurry the drying process along. Weeds are becoming immune and it is ruining the soil. Anyway, it's everywhere and in too much food and water.
Here are a couple of articles to peruse.

Quaker Oats tested exceed (by more than 100 %) the dosage considered beyond the adequate measure of safety. Now round up is used to hasten the harvest--nothing to do with weed control. This is insane. Some sampled organic oats showed evidence of round up contamination, as well, but in levels much lower and far below the 'adequate measure of safety'. This will continue until the public decides no more. Meanwhile, keep feeding yourself and your kids massive does of round up. Click on the link for named brands and detected levels.
This is not new information. This has been known for many years now and information has been available. So, really, nothing new. And, ppb stands for parts per billion.

Good question. Could it be that over the few decades of awareness, we've become somewhat desensitized? Dammit, I hope not.

Global warming isn't just about rising temperatures, even though it is about the planet and oceans warming. More specifically, it's abut extremes--hotter, colder, drier, wetter. More intense, heavier rain storms (think Texas this last hurricane season), more intense, longer droughts, more hurricanes/cyclones/typhoons of much larger size. With the droughts and intensified heat comes more and more massive, destructive fires and rising ocean waters and longer extreme heat waves (think all over the world this year). Etc., etc., etc. You get the picture. So.... check out what is about to hit the east coast--north carolina or there about. I read it's fast moving and should hit land Thursday, maybe. I guess it could get smaller, but it's unimaginable that it could get larger.

and, here's a local updated forecast. 3 minutes
https://www.counton2.com/news/local-news/hurricane-florence-becoming-stronger-as-it-picks-up-speed/1430082966
and, there are two hurricanes (not storms, but hurricanes) following Fran.
https://www.democraticunderground.com/12321330
and, rump wanted to eliminate funding for tracking these storms/hurricanes.

As usual, California takes the lead (despite the rest of the country's perception of us all 'fruits and nuts') under the enlightened and expert guidance of, soon to be retired, Governor Jerry Brown. Soon to be Governor Gavin Newsom will admirably take over where Governor Brown left off.

Environmentalists have been arguing, for decades!!, that the coal ash ponds are extremely dangerous. These coal ash ponds are listed as super sites and have had that designation for far too long. Duke energy has been willing to spend money to lobby to keep the government from forcing clean up rather than do the clean up. That responsibility would fall on our congress and and the republican demands for no regulations.
Coal ash is highly toxic to all living things. Again, this is a supreme example of greed--profits over people and complete disregard for life (isn't it interesting that these conservatives who fight regulations and side with corporations preach they are right to lifers, but put everyone's health in danger by preserving these toxic super sites). So, here you have a double whammy. The unprecedented rainfall from the hurricane, and the breach of coal ash pits.
Show up at the polls Nov. 6 and vote everyone of these republicans out. The people, and their children, who profit from the poisoning of that environment live in such a way that they, unlike the locals, remain unaffected.
