Yes, the middle class is shrinking, and, we in the U.S., are now living in a dual economy, and inequality has deepened here more than other advanced countries and has become entrenched. To a large degree, our economy has taken on third world properties. When did this economy start degrading and why. Well, with tricky dick nixon, and everybody's favorite (certainly not mine, because I know what a prop he was, and am fully aware of the massive corruption of his administration, as well), ronald reagan.
This is presented by a professor of economics, emeritus, at MIT. It's kinda dry, but, maybe, you should know this stuff. 10 minute video

Welcome to the third world, America. You've fully arrived.

The new gilded age of billionaires. Do they need tax cuts? Seriously.

The Gilded Age--the second half of the 19th century (1850s through early 1900s).
America becomes the world's industrial power. Capitalism thrives and firmly establishes the 1%, and the republican party becomes their representative, politically. So you can see, trickle is nothing new. That was the game then. Make the rich richer, and money will trickle down from their pot of gold. A history lesson. Almost 2 hours.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but in a world where billions of people are starving, and in a country where homelessness is substantial, and kids in foster care have to have drives for shoes and winter coats, and food stamps are cut back, and veterans health care is on the line because we're told there's not enough money to provide the care they need, etc, etc, etc, a 150 dollar yakatori skewer just blows my mind. Then again, maybe it's just me.

and, then there's this. We have entered a repeat of the Gilded Age.

That's just the way it is. But, don't think many, many white people (in fact, more and more) find themselves in the same boat.

The American aristocracy is beyond the reach of the rabble. The rabble being people who work retail, food service, etc., and those who work low wage jobs. Extremely good article about inequality.
For those low wage earners who support trump, understand you've been snowed. These people don't care about your struggle. In fact, they hold you in contempt. Get a clue.

Billionaires, and then there's everybody else. And, they gave them selves a tax cut and blasted the deficit into unheard of territory. Thom Hartmann 8 minutes
