Now that the 2010 LM2 Reports have been posted on the DOL Website, I thought that it would be appropriate to follow up on a previous thread posted here on uncharted.ca

For those of you who recall, here is the thread that I am referring to:

Inside the UFCW; Astonished, Confused, etc. etc....
http://forums.uncharted.ca/viewtopic.php?t=1646&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=rodney+diamond&start=0

While reviewing UFCW Local 770's 2010 LM2 Report I was astounded when I ran across UFCW Local 770's former Secretary Treasurer, Rodney L. Diamond's obscene 2010 salary reported by UFCW Local 770.

According to the 2010 LM2 Report, Mr. Rodney L. Diamond received the following compensation from Local 770.

$540,490.00 Gross Salary Before Deductions
$5,446.00 Disbursements For Official Business

$545,936.00 Total

For verification purposes here is the DOL Website Link:
http://kcerds.dol-esa.gov/query/getOrgQry.do

Here is the DOL File Number for UFCW Local 770:
File # 517-385

The above information is found at Schedule 11- All Officers and Disbursements To Officers.

Now "if" I was a dues paying member at UFCW Local 770, I would be asking for a complete investigation by the DOL, etc.. as to why my dues money was used to pay Mr. Rodney L. Diamond this outrageous and obscene amount of money!

Well I am very sure that Mr. Diamond's modest salary is not resented by the "silent majority" of Local 770 members.

Assuming for a moment, that UFCW Local 770's former Secretary Treasurer, Rodney L. Diamond is also Diamond Consulting, LLC, then does that mean that Mr. Diamond received $545,936.00 plus $132,015.00 for a Total of $677,951.00 from UFCW Local 770 for 2010????

Assuming once again that the above is correct, how do you spell I N V E S T I G A T I O N .

Excuse me while I go and examine other LM2 Reports for UFCW Local 770 to see if Diamond Consulting, LLC was reported in previous years???

It looks like Diamond Consulting charges $6,275 a week. Would Rodney L. Diamond been on the Local's payroll during these same weeks? When did he stop being the Secretary-Treasurer?

JB,
In reference to Mr. Diamond’s he was forced out from the Secretary Treasurer position because of Lawsuit, Age and Sex Discrimination. However, Mr. Diamond’s remain with Local 770 in the capacity of consultant, with full stipend and benefits until Dec 31, 2010.

To your question Hawk..... I do not have a specific date as to when Rodney L. Diamond stopped performing his duties as Sec. Treas. at UFCW Local 770.

I do however have a "general idea" of when Mr. Diamond left by reviewing some of UFCW Local 770's 2010 editions of their Local Union Newspaper (Voice).

Specifically, here is the June 2010 Edition of Local 770's Voice.
http://www.ufcw770.org/sites/default/files/770VoiceJune10.pdf

Please note Secretary Treasurer Rodney Diamond wrote an article found on Page 4. (In the Diamond Lane)

Followed by the September 2010 Edition of Local 770's Voice.

Please note the new Secretary Treasurer, John Grant wrote an article found on Page 3.

Followed by the December 2010 Edition of the Local 770's Voice.

Age and sex discrimination lawsuit? Now that sounds very interesting. I am sure the UFCW newsletters made a big slash about that.

Kudos to ross53 for previously providing us all with the following information regarding Mr. Rodney L. Diamond "alleged legal problems".

Since I do not know the "final disposition" of the following cases, I will defer to those individuals who may have the factual information / conclusion for the "rest of the story", as it pertains to Mr. Diamond..

Note: Rod Diamond joined Local 770 in 1961 when he began work at Westward Ho Market. Since 1971, he has served the Union as an Organizer, Union Representative, Field Director and Director of Political Affairs. He was elected Secretary Treasurer in 2002.

Quote:
When you step back and review Mr. Diamond’s Salary History at UFCW Local 770 from 2002 to and including his 2010 “buyout” / “payout”, or “whatever” you want to call it, Local 770’s President Rick Icaza including Local 770’s Executive Board's decision to authorize said "buyout" / "payout" to Mr. Diamond is unconscionable!

For verification purposes here is the DOL Website Link:
http://kcerds.dol-esa.gov/query/getOrgQry.do

Here is the DOL File Number for UFCW Local 770:
File # 517-385

The following LM2 information is found at Schedule 11- All Officers and Disbursements To Officers

UFCW Local 770’s LM2 Reports for “former” Secretary Treasurer Rodney L. Diamond and his Salary History from 2002 (year he was elected as Secretary Treasurer at Local 770) to 2010.

2002 = $236,067.00
2003 = $234,133.00
2004 = $232,421.00
2005 = $254,423.00
2006 = $254,057.00
2007 = $260,761.00
2008 = $278,924.00
2009 = $256,825.00

2010 = $545,936.00
(plus)
$132, 015.00 (consulting services (Aug.-Dec. 2010)
Total = $677,951.00

Note: Since I do not know UFCW Local 770's specific policy as it pertains to “former” Secretary Treasurer Rodney L. Diamond’s expenses, allowances, etc., I will be using his “total amount” of monies listed on his LM2 Report.

Please refer to Mr. Diamond’s respective yearly LM2 report for his “detailed amount” of allowances, disbursements, etc.

Note: I apologize in advance for any inadvertent errors or omissions and the applicable LM2 Report for Rodney L. Diamond shall govern.

I continue to urge each and every Local 770 Member to demand an immediate investigation into the $677,951.00 dollars their Local Union paid out to Mr. Diamond for 2010!

Here is some contact information for a Local 770 Member to contact the appropriate Government Agency.

Quote:
State of California Department of Justice
Kamala D. Harris / Attorney General

Additionally, here is some contact information for the LATimes.

Quote:
Contact the LA Times reporter, P.J. Huffstutter at p.j.huffstutter@latimes.com and voice your outrage at the amount of monies paid to Rodney L. Diamond by the Leadership / Executive Board at UFCW Local 770.

BTW.... speaking of Local 770's Executive Board, here is a link to review the applicable Merger Agreement outlining the Local 770 Executive Board post Merger!

I would urge each and every Local 770 Member to contact their Local Union Executive Board and voice your outrage to each and every Board Member.

You have got to be joking JB - Diamond pocketed just short of 3/4 of a million dollars of 770 members' money in one year?

Speaking of Rodney L. Diamond found this while searching the web...

Some So Cal UFCW History

Quote:
This UFCW SoCal disaster is beyond words.

The blame falls squarely on peolpe like Rod Diamond, Jan Dresner and John Grant--these three individuals are all current Local 770 executives better know as the "Diamond Mafia." Their corrupt leadership dating back to the 1970's has greatly contributed to the destruction of the Southern California UFCW.

Quote:
So Icaza has been an illegal President for nearly 15 years.

Never fear--Rod Diamond, Jan Dresner and John Grant knew about this and cleverly covered it up--the price to Icaza was that Rod Diamond would get to run things and get paid big $$$ and Icaza would remain president in name only but.

Now there are two other former Local 770 executives who know about this that are still alive.

If these two people could find the courage to go to the Department of Justice--there is a very good chance that the Justice Department would seek a grand jury indictment against Rick Icaza, Rod Diamond, Jan Dresner and last but not least John Grant.

Be happy you *have* the LM2, in Canada the union exec don't have to report *anything*. At least you know what you have to scratch... up here you just get to feel the itch, and see the rash.
