B.C. Federation of Labour convention goers are hunkered down through December 1, 2006 at the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre, to celebrate it's 50th year. That's about where this controversy begins - 50 years of what?

Contrary to the convention's celebration theme - "A proud history" and "A strong future" - we found an open letter from activist Chris Budgell which suggests that not all has been sunshine and roses - for members. In it, Budgell asks the Federation's grand poo_bah, Jim Sinclair and Fed party lites to acknowledge Labour Code tampering. What do you think - will the dancing stop?

First they came for the Jews, but I did not care because I was not a Jew. Then they came for the blacks, but I did not care because I was not black. Then they came for the union members who were not favoured in the eyes of the executives, but I did not care because I was unknown to the executives. Then, then they came for me after all, but there was no one left who could care for me.

The few times Sinclair has managed to attract msm attention, he's made a complete horse's ass of B.C's labour movement (or what's left of it) imo. If I had to make a public speaking comparison, I'd say bushese would be a definite step up. AFAIC, Sinclair's only accomplishment, is that his term as labour guru set the puppet price.

There's positively no expectations on my part that sinclair or any of the other party goers will give Budgell's very serious and very founded information a first glance. That's too bad because finding out the hard way is going to be even more devastating to the movement.

Thanks to uncharted's administrators for posting Mr. Sinclair's reply to my Open Letter.

I was quite surprised to receive it and have not had time to put together the full critique I suppose it deserves.

An interesting highlight for me was to be characterized as a conspiracy theorist and then to hear Mr. Sinclair conjuring up the ghost of the IRC and claiming the very few DFR cases they heard were part of a plot to drain the unions' treasuries. And crop circles are proof of alien abductions too Jim. Don't forget that one.

A one, two, three, step, two, three
And they did the rock 'n roll waltz

I don't see any updates on the B.C.fed website as to how the celebration ended or what became of 82 pages of resolutions.

Which are a hoot onto themselves. I hadn't noticed this before but there is a pdf to previous resolutions from previous conventions. The pdf chart lists the resolution and the fed's disposition of it in another column.

Many of the fed's respsonses state something like "... the fed is already working on it...". I suppose that explains why so many people and organizations pressed the resolutions forward in the first place, because the B.C.fed was already "on it". Geez Jim do you read yourself?

You're not holding your breath are you gbuddy?

Anyone want to see a picture of gbuddy banging his head against the babble rock?

I'm kidding gbuddy - tho not necessarily about the head banging - there's probably no better place to get a truer read of status quo's status and it's debris IMO.

Hear Hear! I think Sinclair's comments make perfect basic common sense, and only a nutball with an axe to grind would not agree with this assessment.
I especially enjoy Steppenwolf Allende's 'it is so therefore it must be' nonsense.
