The death of Coretta Scott King evoked an outpouring of popular sympathy from those who identify her and her husband with the struggle for social equality and justice that animated the mass movement against Jim Crow segregation. Her death also evoked a torrent of hypocrisy and posturing from leading figures from both political parties, including President Bush and three former US presidents who gave tributes at the funeral service. read more... |

You know, I find this shallow, misdirected, political hypocricy absolutely sickening. Do these guys really believe that they come across as sincere? These political elite are so out of touch with the working people out here, it's absolutely unbelievable, and to hear their claims of support for the polarized working class people is just so idiotic! I can't decide if they just don't get it, or if they do and they are merely attempting a submissive posture in order to hold on to their power. I think the latter is what I choose! I believe these elite are just beginning to see the edges of a society which has grown tired of the patronizing and the lies. These elite few will realize before too much longer that there is a shift happening within society. There is a growing unrest among the people which is erasing the lines which have been drawn to keep us apart. People have realized that the fight against each other has kept us in decline while an elite few have profited.
Coretta Scott King was a wonderful human being and she deserved much better than this! These hollow elite shells of human beings attending her funeral is a travesty of truth as far as I'm concerned. The one redeeming action of this political spectacle was Jimmy Carter's refusal to shake the hand of Georgie Boy. Now that was priceless! And the speech by Rev. Joseph Lowry was inspirational and even with Bush in the front row, he didn't shy away from saying where our current administation has taken this country. Quote: We know now there were no weapons of mass destruction over there. [Standing Ovation] But Coretta knew and we know that there are weapons of misdirection right down here. Millions without health insurance. Poverty abounds. For war billions more but no more for the poor. _________________ "Speaking the truth in times of universal deceit is a revolutionary act."
