Posting this as an FYI for all union member. No response required or needed.

Keep an eye on this website:

Applications for Benefit Suspension

At current funding levels, positioning and red status of California UFCW Pension funds I fear that this is coming to not only our fund but many other multi-employer funds.

Spread it far and wide.

Wow, I guess Damascus became a ruinous heap after 10,000 years of continues human occupation.

Later days....

I thought I would go back and read the comments from retirees that are getting majorly fucked and those many who will be destroyed (these comments are from teamsters central states fund). So far there are 131 pages of those comments from teamster retirees. It appears they have gotten their reduction letters and the target date for those cuts to begin is 06/01/16.
Again, from the time it was secretly tucked into the 12/2014 budget plan and passed and not disclosed to union members or the general public by the government or the unions.

Well now, my, my. The plot thickens. So far none of the 6 listed pension funds that applied have been allowed to cut dollar benefits to retirees (those already collecting). Some plans have been denied, and some are still in review, and one was withdrawn. It seems that the Kline-Miller act states that to change the status of retirees under ERISA (prior to Kline-Miller), the part that allows the plans to cut $ heretofore guaranteed upon retirement under that same law, states that cutting retirees checks will not guarantee the solvency of the plan. And, supposedly, that would be the express purpose of those cuts.
Could the "40 YEAR Rehabilitation Plan" (what a joke!) that John Briley posted, awhile back, ufcw now has in place in California been somewhat, at least, determined by the aforementioned denials by the Dept. of Treasury?
Now what are the unions going to do to aid the employers in screwing the dues paying members?
For sure, the feds do not want to take on anymore union pension debt.

Iron workers pension cut. Members vote (active and retirees) and retirees get the short end--their pension got reformed.
