Okay, I'm just now figuring out the basics of simple html, (and I do mean simple, and now we're talking about Web 2.0)! OMG! What does this mean? Technology seems to be growing, expanding, and multiplying faster than my brain cells, (or what's left of 'em), can assimilate and comprehend!

I found this community and through it's support, began peckin' on the keyboard and sharing thoughts on a variety of subjects. Then I discovered blogs and thought "how cool is this"? Then the wonderful people here at uncharted offered me an opportunity to contribute and I thought "Who, me? Are you sure you're talking to the right person? Wow, sure!" That's when I began having to deal with the dreaded markup language, with it's strict guidlines and seemingly unending applications! Sheeesh! Oh and by the way, "Thanks Kelsey!" You have a lot of patience! Smile

Just when I was feeling somewhat comfortable and at times a little proud of my limited grasp of this new world, along comes word of the next generation of services available on the www! Now we have the availability of Podcasting with some sites willing to offer free web hosting, and oh yeah, also free video hosting?

This stuff is unfknbelievable! I see some great opportunities for communities. I may have to try this podcasting out just to see how it works. Has anyone else already dipped into this new well of knowledge? I know Kelsey has commented on how we need more people technically involved.
Quote:
I think a better idea would be getting more troublemakers interested in and enthusiastic about web technologies. Enthusiasm is key. Technical ability and knowledge is consequential.

... the havoc we could wreak with a team of trouble-geeks.

From my limited knowledge of the internet and it's potential for the people's future, I agree with Kelsey that we need a Shitdisturber's Geek Squad! But I've also come to realize, (even with my loss of brain cells and the intermittent ringing in my head Wink...
that technological savvy comes from a love, and not from a necessity. Geeks, and I use that term with great admiration by the way, communicate differently than old codgers like myself. And I have met very few elderly people who love the technological uncharted realms. Not saying there aren't any, but I would venture to say they are few and far between!

How do we get shitdisturbers fired-up over technology? I think Kelsey's analysis of the need for enthusiasm about web technologies is dead-on. I know we rely a great deal on Kelsey's abilities already and his plate stays full and his workload is for the most part hidden and unappreciated by most! Damn, this is starting to sound like a "Thank You Kelsey" post and I guess by rights it should be!

But wouldn't it be nice to have information available for those who have an interest in web technology. And possibly an interest could turn into love given the right tutorials accompanied by pertinent documents. Anybody have a desire or an interest in learning or has anyone already embarked on the path of web technology?

Google has free video hosting?!!! 'xcuse me while I kiss the sky.

Just this past week one of unchartered's innovative shitdisturbers and I were talking about doing a documentary about the UFCW's CCWIPP pension plan fiasco and how it was exposed. This shit's too complicated for the mainstream media so why not do it yourself right?

All we need now is a good deal on a digital camcorder and we'll be all set.

Very Happy
