Quote: A lot of serious contract language (additions, modifications, deletions) takes place within these Letters of Agreements. It's risky business to stick your neck out at the best of times. To know in the end that if/when you do, it's likely to be chopped off by your own sword - well it's easy to see how even the most active members might be wary to go there. Once burned twice shy (and who said ufcw didn't have any success stories.) Between non-accessible and incomplete language and UFCW reps (agents?) routinely talking People down because they themselves struggle to make head nor tail of ufcw's patchwork CBAs and, despite that "UFCW agents" are paid hefty salaries and perks to do it, they won't risk their head either. And hardly rocket science why UFCW's numbers are tanking or why UFCW's top feeders are desperately pouring members' money by the shitload trying to find fresh funding channels. Only the strong and the corrupt survive eh. It's been said many times but it bears repeating; UFCW is no longer a member organization, UFCW has become nothing short of a labour broker. _________________ Free speech is the whole thing, the whole ball game. 5 months of extended negotiations over a 10 Million dollar payment split up between 4 companies?
Looking at the contract I see a whole lot of nothing that stands out. Little change but a small H/W payment for the older workers. Was this a dog and pony show or a serious disagreement? I guess I will never understand how this stuff works. I would do better to quit trying. _________________ “The burden against Damascus. ‘Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, and it will be a ruinous heap. (Isaiah 17:1-2) |
