Pardon, my language folks. I am bitter. I was walking down the rural country road in which I reside. I came across an elderly gentleman - stop to chat - it was all so interesting.

I asked him, would you mind if I had a cigarette? He replied, we could have one together and with that pull out a small tobacco filled container.

I said, oh you roll your own (?) he says, I get my tobacco from the bootlegger up the road. He smokes his cigarettes, slims the butts, sells them for $5.00 a tobacco tin.

I shutter as I write -

Bastards smoke cigarettes, butt them out. Then they proceed to take the left over tobacco from the butts and ashes - sell for $5.00 a tin.

Got that, smokin' the bits.

The elderly gentleman, danced to the scenario, it is a shame.

A degrading scenario, no elderly should have particpate.

I'm sorry to say that it made me laugh until I realized how disgusting it truly was... and then I laughed harder.

The bootlegger ain't smoking that much. He's picking through every public ashtray available to put together the tins.

Damn, that kinda sounds easy! It's now inevitable that some corporation is gonna get into this mass recycling game.

Mr. Green

No laughing matter, I was bitter and I still am.

Rural living is not something city folks understand until they are toss there, trust me on that one. Mr. Green

Puts a whole new spin on going out for a cigarette doesn't it.

Disgusting yet entrepreneurial. People who buy the tins have to know tobacco ain't that cheap - it's why they're there to begin with. Bootleg butts - where there's a niche eh. Mr. Green

I just stepped out onto my balcony in order to move a couple of large plants (trees more like it) outside for the spring. On the balcony I have this great brass hallway ashtray that I 'borrowed' from the Mondo Condo way back when (for my smoker friends).

Whadda ya know! BUTT JACKPOT!!!

The thing is loaded. yankee, you're the expert... do you think the cold climate will change the taste?

Can we sell vintages? I'll collect once a month. There's some great "DuMaurier Light Nov 05" in my collection.

Mr. Green

Harvesting cigarette butts is definitely labour intensive. It also looks like the kind of work which wouldn't be easily outsourced or more to the point, butt harvesting is continentally specific. I think this is an organizing op for ufcw.

Now let me get this straight....

If I slim my butt, I can put the excess lard in a can and sell it to someone who will try to smoke it? Wow! That sure beats paying $40 a month to exercise at a gym.

Seriously, it's a sad commentry on our food chain. Who gets the crumbs? The bootlegger isn't slimmin' butts 'cause he or she has a lot of other opportunities to make some dough. For all we know, the bootlegger is doin' the harvesting and smokin' the same slimmin's.

Well, Elvis - I'd keep all those butts as evidence. If in fact, and that I have no doubt, it comes from the Mondo Condo, keep it! DNA may enter the picture when it least meets the eye..

My My, Hey Hey Cool

Weiser, be wise.

I trust you know the lard that has weighed on several union executives would never look good on you. Mr. Green

Personally, I use my lard for the simple the in life...frying..
