AUD has been informed by the Pension Rights Center, a resource to which we refer workers with pension questions, of legislation that may be of particular interest/concern to many of our members, particularly those in construction trades. We are, therefore, bringing it to your attention. We are told that new legislation, called the Pension Reform Act, is being drafted in Congress. Its provisions may cut back the pensions of union workers in virtually all of the construction trades. The most affected would be those with a subsidized early retirement benefit (a pension payable before 65 that is not reduced for age, e.g., a 30-and-out- pension, a Rule of 75 pension,or an unreduced pension payable at age 55 after 10 years of covered employment). For more information: visit Pension Rights, the website of the Pension Rights Center, contact RCarr@pensionrights.org, or call the Pension Rights Center at 202-296-3776.
