A New Monicker for a New Web Forum
I'm ba-aack!! -and with a vengeance. So Audra's lost her job as a moderator at Babble. Well cry me a river, Audra. I'm not forgetting it was you who banished me from rabble.ca based on the suggestion to do so by my union's lawyer -without bothering to consult or even inform me of your decision. And it was Audra who ignored outright my subsequent conciliatory attempts to reconcile and have my suspension rescinded. In her own defense Audra recently 'fessed up to how she deals with, say a sensitive issue like that of censorship: "I don't feel my tendancy towards procrastination hindered babble in any measurable way. I've had 10pm on a Sunday night emails like "Delete this thread or we're going to be sued" and been right on it." Yep, that's my girl, alright. Some labour lawyer writes her a threatening letter and Audra caves without blinking an eye. She gets "right on it." I say: good riddance to Audra. Perhaps Babble can now get back to being a forum for honest discussion of labour-related problems -as opposed to being a sounding board for the union-biz set. _________________ "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke If ya wanna make an omelette, ya gotta break some eggs |

Why waste any more of my time there? _________________ Henri Ducard: Your compassion is a weakness your enemies will not share. Bruce Wayne: That's why it's so important. It separates us from them. |

Babble is babble.
It is my belief there are other things in life rather the insanity of babble/rabble, whatever. Now can I post? _________________ A Working Class Hero Is Something To Be ~ John Lennon |

I'm sorry Audra fell victim to the same system she was loyal to, believed in and defended. That's a tough lesson we've all learn'd to some degree.
I'm a little proud of her actually. People get fired for stepping out of said box. Errant missing forms is just what *they* write down to comfort their arrogant controlling selves. _________________ Free speech is the whole thing, the whole ball game. Free speech is life itself. - Salman Rushdie |

Cheated By Labatt: Was the following one of your conciliatory attempts to reconcile with Audra? aglavin-bwu-capitulation_nhughes.pdf I have posted approximately 200 times in Babble forums. I have been very critical of the CAW, CUPE and the UFCW. None of my posts have ever been censored by Babble. _________________ Real Solidarity Last edited by CUPE_Reformer on Wed Apr 12, 2006 5:43 am; edited 1 time in total |

Was the following one of your conciliatory attempts to reconcile with Audra? Labatt Buster's capitulation In a word, C_R, no. What you have linked to is the letter of retraction provided for my signature by my union's law firm, Fiorillo, Glavin, Gordon. Needless to say, they never did get a retraction from me. I never signed and returned the document in question. The only response they ever got from me was my online response. No, my attempts to appease Ms. Audra were made directly to her via email. I've provided an excerpt from my letter to her dated January 22, 2005 as an example of what I'm talking about: "Now that the bluster from Tony Glavin, lawyer for the Brewery Workers' Union Local 300 has settled down, and the so-called "defamatory" comments have been purged from the site, would it be possible for my posting ability to now be reinstated on Babble? "In return I promise to tone down the inflammatory nature of my comments, and to preface anything even slightly controversial with a suitable disclaimer, such as "...in my opinion", so as not to engender Babble with any future threats from Mr. Glavin et al. "I want you to know that I am truly, personally embarrassed by the heavy-handedness my union showed towards you and Babble. You know, it's highly doubtful that Glavin and the guys from my union ever really intended to go through with their threats of legal action -it's just what bullies do when they're faced with something they fear (i.e. the truth). My entreaty to Audra was ignored and so I remain banished from even logging on at Babble's web site. My banishment occurred not because of anything I posted on rabble, but rather due to the heavyhanded response from my union, one I believe was designed solely to shut me up. My beef with Ms. Audra was and remains how she caved into such pressure without giving me any consideration, whatsoever. She might have had the courtesy to notify me of my union's complaint, allowing me to respond. It never happened. Ms. Williams was quite succinct when she posted at rabble.ca her reasoning for censoring "Labatt Buster" January 22, 1995 at 12:28 p.m. "I had to remove Labatt Buster's posts, and posting ability, as a result of possible legal action against rabble.ca", she wrote. My take on the matter was as follows: "It would appear that the Brewery Workers' Union is now dictating who's words may appear (or not) on babble/rabble's webforum... The foregoing was an excerpt from a MfD thread entitled I've Been Banned From Posting On Babble!!! in which I endeavoured to chronicle the entire event. Check it out. It's an interesting read. I believe you put in a couple of cents, C_R, and there's even a post from Audra, herself. As I said to her at that time: "You've set free speech back a long way, Audra my dear. You might as well just hang it up and go home, because if the Internet is to be so controlled by lawyers and the like, then you can be sure it's game over for any serious discussion of serious matters. So again I say good riddance to Audra and all those like her that would so readily succumb to a union's apparent desire to render a member silent about a few things. It's about the right to FREE SPEECH and upholding so-called Canadian values. That''s all, folks. _________________ "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke If ya wanna make an omelette, ya gotta break some eggs |

You're welcome C_R.
And thanks for the link above, robbie_dee. While I was there I took a look around at some of the other threads dealing with the awful Audra situation -it's important to keep abreast of these things. But migawd! It's like Audramania over there in babbledumb. No, a better analogy is the tragic death of Princess Di. I'm tellin' ya, it'll be SAINT Audra before ya know it. Don't believe me? Check out this inspiring tribute to Audra. Man, she musta done one heck of a job, Brownie!! _________________ "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke If ya wanna make an omelette, ya gotta break some eggs |

I wasn't sure that I was worthy to view the tribute.

I say shut the bastards down, what a precious lesson and sign of things to come. They might just as well get used to it.
We've been meeting past the middle far too long IMO - they bought and paid and traded for rules that benefit only the keepers and keep moving the line further back. It wouldn't hurt my feelings to knock them on their ass's, set them back a few paces. _________________ Free speech is the whole thing, the whole ball game.
