Fastfood workers in Auckland NZ are striking on March 18th to demand a $12 minimum wage, job security and an end to discriminatory youth rates. Members of the small and mighty UNITE union, which recently struck Starbucks, has also set it's sites (sic) and people power on MacDonalds - the other oppressive mega-corp.

Isn't it interesting that while unions like the UFCW bargain minimum wage contracts in the small pockets of the service industry that are unionized, these grass roots groups are demanding more and using broad-based community efforts to get it?
