Hi All
I am William the guy that got sued by UFCW in 2001 and got the court order to have UFCW post the constitution on UFCW Canada's website. I haven't been around in a few years but decided to poke my head in and say hi. First off I am no longer a member of UFCW 247 and I no longer work for Superstore. I am on full disability because of Diabetic issues but the fight is still in me. I am just wondering if any of the original MFD people are still around? I will try to check back in more often and keep up to date with what is going on. William G. |

Hey William, good to see you are still alive and kicking. I'm not an original, but i came aboard while still working as a ufcw president in St Paul MN. Watched your story unfold and was disgusted by their actions. Nice to hear from you.

It is interesting to be back. In 2003 I was fired from Superstore and in order to discredit me they said that I was distributing child porn, (NOT). The arbitrator heard the case a year later and found it had no merit even that the union and its lawyer did not put a very good case together. The company was ordered to pay me $20,000.00 for wrongful dismissal and give me a letter of recommendation. When the company and the union work together to get rid of someone I found out the they will. All this because I was asking for a change in the wording of the contract from 14% of each store getting full time to 14% of each department. This would give women in the stores full time. With Superstore most women can't get over 25 hours a week. 200 plus cashiers in the store and only 1 per store gets full time. All the full time goes to the guys in the grocery department. They had to discredit me to the women in the store and it worked.

Hi Will, great to hear from you. Which originals are you referring to - are you asking about the "renegade dissident fringe group" - as ufcw 1518 liked to call to the people who challenged uncle brook in '99 executive election - members for democracy? Or the MfD website founders and contributors?

I printed off a copy of it just a couple of weeks ago... and I found the process really simple. Not once did I think about how hard it was to actually make that possible! You were one of the ones that I was wondering about and Hugh as well as Scott and a few others. The guys and girls that were out at the car wash in Cloverdale back in 99.
