I believe siggy described this arrangement as the UFCW Idiot Protection Program.

Too funny. Also too bad Canada doesn't have to post LM2's. It would be way awesome to see if that $200,000 salary he was getting in DC was cut or if they are subsidizing it. You know they have no qualms about paying people to go quietly into the night.

I just know Dority can clear this up for us. Seems to me he was the one who picked M. Fraser and J Talirico. You can usually tell the quality of the leader by the quality of the people he surrounds himself by.

As for the Lovealls' I recall hearing that they were originally from Montreal or that there was some kind of Quebec connection. One of the other contributors recently told me that he was running a local in Detroit before landing in California in the 1980's.

Wanda

You have got this backwards from what I know Loveall was ordinally from Detroit and then went to Canada to run a local and then came to California.

I'm going to PM you the name and number of a person that new Loveall in Detroit and came with him to Ca to run local 588.(so he says anyway) This pesron was fired by Loveall in the 90's and he latter sued Loveall over the firing. I don't know if he will talk to you but I know he would love to see Loveall go down!

I'm sure he got a nice BIG severance package. I mean, what with his great love of filing lawsuits, I'm sure the International wanted to keep him happy. There's no way for members up here to know just what kind of golden parachute was arranged for him, although he did appear on the UFCW's LM2 statement last year (maybe because he's paid by the International?) When do these things come out for 2006? It would be worth checking.

Yeah, Dority could clear up a lot of things. He can Cliff Evans were quite close.

The net seems to be getting smaller for the Trustees
of CCWIPP. Each day more dirt comes out of the that
pension plan. The investing and playing around with
employees money is bad, but it just keeps getting
worse. FSCO that is supposed to guard our money is
just sitting on their hands or so it seems anyway.
Is FSCO that bad or are the CCWIPP Trustees that
good at spreading bull, that all are supposed to
believe. I for one am tired of all the BS, and just
wish the UFCW AND CCWIPP TRUSTEES had the guts to
just once say I am sorry for what has happened
instead of hiding behind the excuse of lousy
interest rates. This excuse for what has gone on
is wearing thin to say the least.

The CCWIPP boys will never say they're sorry. That would be admitting liability and they'll never to do in a million years. It's also not their style. Keep in mind that they never dreamed that their creative investing schemes would ever be exposed. I'm sure there's still an air of disbelief about what's happened. These guys had such a high opinion of themselves and such contempt for the members that I'm sure they're having a hard time processing the public unraveling of their decade-long investment lunacy.

As for the FSCO, it's an incompetent agency led by indifferent bigshots and staffed by lazy and inept (and possibly co-opted) desk jockeys. These people have, over the years, come to see the pension big shots as their clients to be coddled and shmoozed and the pension members as a nuisance to be blown off and ignored.

It was interesting, a couple of weeks ago I caught an episode of W5 called Fleecing the Flock. It's about a scam whereby some con men ingratiate themselves into a church congregation, win the trust of the church-goers and then steal their money through fraudulent investment schemes.

In the documentary, W5 interviewed some honcho from the Ontario Securities Commission (a sister agency of the FSCO - both are agencies of the Ontario Ministry of Finance). In response to some questions about why the OSC isn't using its considerable powers of enforcement to crack down on this kind of fraud, the miserable slob basically said "it's a problem but there's not much we can do about it". When the reporter read the section in the legislation that gives the OSC a lot of power, the guy just sat there like he had his brain in neutral. These agencies are so pathetic.

The only reason the FSCO went as far as it did was because of all the info we dug up and because we were posting it on the Internet. That made it impossible for them to look the other way. More is on its way.

Interesting, the Doug and Cliff show...could well be a new reality program where greed and the i get mine mentality is the backdrop. Contestants could see how badly they can screw things up while shoveling in as much as they can before they fade into the sunset. Just one question...how many times was Cliff married?

As far as the LM2's, the 06 ones will be online come May or June. Yes they will have to show any severance he was paid, unless of course they bury it in the percap transfer. Lots of ways to play the game; the good news is these days they are either too arrogant to care if we see or too afraid of being caught to play that loose with the numbers.
