hi everyone,
i haven't been online in awhile becuase a friend (that lived with my husband and i) died of cancer on january 5. he was 52 and such a great guy and had just retired from ufcw after 34 years in the trenches. he wasn't married, so his pension just goes back into the trough, which sucks, but that has nothing to do with my strange question. i'm wondering if any of you tech genius people know how to get the message off of my friend greg's cell phone (his voice) onto some other type of recorder. i was hoping to use it at the informal get together we are doing for him on the 28th. i thought we could have an awesome picture of him and you would hear him say, "this is greg, leave me a message", then people could write thier thoughts down and we could put them in a paper boat asian-style and send them out into the bay carrying away the messages with the departing soul. corny i guess, (but girls rule does corny.) i figure there are no wrong things in this type of situation as long as you are doing them with good intentions. well, i'll just throw this out there and see what comes back. any ideas are appreciated. i'm off to the local kinko's to have 7 goofy pictures of greg blown up big, to use with arrows as directional guides to our home. he would roll his eyes at me but i know he was a big softy and he would like it. he had a great sense of humor and there is a reason i have so many pictures of him clowning around! thanks again for any feedback. |

If your phone has a headphone output, you could run it into your soundcard, place the call, record the results, edit appropriately, then burn to CD or whatever. The biggest issue, I imagine, would be getting a proper adapter as most cell phones have non-standard outputs while soundcards typically have standard 1/8" inputs. _________________ The PG is your friend. |

Once the connection is made it shouldn't be difficult at all.
Assuming you're using windows you just have to ensure that the audio input (line-in or microphone) is enabled* and that the software you're using to record is configured to listen on that input. * If there's a little speaker icon in your systray, double-click it. If not, Start -> Control Panel -> Sounds & Audio Devices, under the 'Audio' tab there should be a 'Sound Recording' fieldset listing your default input device. Hit the 'Volume' button and check the box underneath the input you want to use. If you need recording software, use Audacity. _________________ The PG is your friend. |
