This land is our land
You stole if from us
You greedy white man....

I have no idea who recorded it but don't you love history recorded in song.

I think this version was done by a Patrick McWilliams...not positive though!

Of course Jib Jab deserves a little recognition for their parody! Wink

(Chorus)
This land is your land, it once was our land
Until you stole it, you thieving white man
From the mighty forests to the flowing waters
This land you took from folks like me

Your men were horny, our women were frisky*
You stole our ponies, you sold us whiskey
You talked of Jesus, while you spread diseases
This land you took from folks like me

This land is your land, it once was our land
Until you stole it, you thieving white man
From the mighty forests, to the flowing waters
This land you took from folks like me

We passed the peace pipes, we watched you smoke them
We signed your treaties, and then you broke them
You grabbed our riches, you sons of b*tches
This land you took from folks like me

This land is your land, it once was our land
Until you stole it, you thieving white man
From the mighty forests to the flowing waters
This land you took from folks like me

Without the paleface, I guess there'd be no
Reservation smoke shop casino
The best advice is "Cater to their vices"
Money we take from folks like you

This land is your land, it once was our land
Until you stole it, you thieving white man
From the mighty forests to the flowing waters
This land you took from folks like me

By the Rio Grande I went out walking
Some people were crossing, I heard them talking
Their words should scare ya' "Es mi tierra"
"Su tierra fue hecha para mi"

This land is your land, for now you own it
But only for, a few more moments
Across the border a chorus sounding
"Esa tierra fue hecha para mi"

I just tried it and didn't have any problem...I did have to let it load for a while before it played. It is entirely based in Flash...so it should work as long as you have Flash installed on your 'puter. On that page, there is also a Lo-Fi and a Hi-Fi link you can try.

Trooper's Raise a Little Hell
Quote:
If you don't like
What you got
Why don't you change it
If your world is all screwed up
Rearrange it

Raise a little Hell ...

If you don't like what you see
Why don't you fight it
If you know there's something wrong
Why don't you right it

Raise a little Hell ...
( and a catchy little number: Why don't Bees go to Heaven)

Being from Scots-Irish descent, I inherited a love for the roots music, and David Francey has the songwriting and singing skills which places him toward the top of my favorites these days. Yeah, I'm a born again independent music fan. Laughing

Scotland born, and relocated to Ontario at the age of 12. He has worked the train yards of Toronto, the Yukon bush, and as a carpenter in the Eastern Townships. David now lives in Lanark Higlands in southern Ontario.

Cool lyrics. First I've heard of him and not sure when I can fit him in.

One would have to be a fickle fan to keep up. Smile. I listen to one cd per year if I'm lucky. I put a fave CD into the car disc player and listen to it where ever and when ever I go. Over and over and over.

2007 was Rod Steward yr, 2008 was Nora Jones yr. I think the closest I got to mixing up my listening pleasure was in 2006 with my 17 versions of Don't cry for me Argentina CD. What a year!

You just did! Mr. Green

Francey is an exceptional songwriter. The Seattle Labor Chorus did a version of his Torn Screen Door over on Labor Notes.

No you don't have to be fickle at all...it's all part of the whole. Look at music as if it were snow, and all the songs were the snowflakes. Wink

Mr. Green I understand! I keep Whole Wheat playing in winamp most of the time as I do other things on the web. When a song hits me in the heart, I check it out and try to edit the wiki and add some data on the artist or song. Wink

Smucksville folks, I am on dial up. Do you know what youtube sounds like on dial up Crying or Very sad

I am just thankful to have dial up on the side of the mountain.

Once upon a time I heard the premier of our find province say something along the lines everyone should have high speed internet. My guess is he has never been to the mountain side. I can be here one moment and in a blink of an eye - I am ripped off like some young fine looking girl in the sixties on her prom night where she gets her dress ripped off.
