So you recall roughly when this would have been? The reason that I ask is that I was having some dealings of my own with them in the 80's about some shady ufcw associates. I wonder how many pieces of the puzzle the cops had looking them in the face back then and yet decided to look the other way.

This meeting would have been in 1988or1989,at that time we were a small group based mainly in the Toronto area, and with the help off of some people not members of the ufcw,we tried to find out what was going on with our pension funds, at this time we did not receive proper financial reports, our questions were either not responded to, or we were given misleading information,we did perservere and gained knowledge, and 10years later made a complaint to the Ont Labour Board. Reading all the information that is out now, put together with our 20 years of misleading information and cover ups I can tell you the Ont Pension were well aware of the ufcw the RCMP were also well aware of the ufcw, other unions tried to help us at the local level but were told to stop helping us by the international reps, so has this unfolds I hope there will be enough pressure to dig even deeper. it will not help the ones who have moved on and taken there losses, but it may clean up what is a large stinking mess, and stop the bleeding of the ccwipp pension funds. There are still to many members that believe the Evans& Frasers & Hanleys, are working for them, so it is even more important to protect the ccwipp pension for all members,so make sure has many members show up for the hearing large crowds being vocal will put pressure on the people who can do something, try to make sure of tv coverage the ccwipp members must be made aware, learn from the past, and remember the ufcw will circle the wagons and carry on the same path when the dust settles, an old friend of mine always said of the ufcw paid reps. they can fall in shit and come out smelling of roses, let us hope not again

In the past, control of information was what made it possible for these guys to keep smelling good. The law enforcement agencies were able to ignore people's concerns and turn a blind eye to what the pension boys were doing because no one would ever make a big issue out of it. The pension trustees were able to ignore the members and feed them crap because it would never become a big issue. Not until the internet came along did all that change. None of them can control information like they used to. I'm convinced that the reason that the FSCO began its investigation of CCWIPP and ultimately pressed charges was because of the relentless exposure that the CCWIPP fiasco received on the internet and later on in the press.
As long as we keep exposing what's going on and asking questions (like: What is the FSCO doing about the massive non-compliance that it found?) then there is hope that the law enforcers will do the right thing. Left to their own devices, they'll bury the problem. It's too complicated and too messy and there are a lot of guys in the FSCO and the Ministry of Finance that don't want to roll up their sleeves. You basically have to shame them into doing it by reminding them over and over again that they no longer control information like they used to and that if they put their heads in the sand again, they'll end up looking stupid in front of the whole world. _________________ Time is on the side of the oppressed today, it's against the oppressor.
