BP - Thanks for the heads-up but not to worry.
The only other major thing to come out of St. Louis was, you guessed it - a bunch of rap (preced with a "c") about mergers, especially in NorCal. some make sense, others the opposite. With very few exceptions, all this talk about mergers is abouit preserving the jobs/salaries of officers [I decline to use the word "leaders"] who got us into this cesspool. So, the choice for members is to follow the lemming-lead of the current officers and IU or to do something different. That, sisters and brothers, is where we come in.
Unionnow - note the words in the IU Constitution, "elevation" and "improvement". Perhaps there is a basis for a breach of contract lawsuit.
That would be interesting. The IU constitution doesn't say a damn thing about "concession" or degradation in wages, benefits, or working conditions.

Now the line at the locals is “we are not in the business of providing healthcare. Let the companies or the government do that. We will focus on better work rules and contract language”

Way awesome catch UN and thanks siggy for the link to the Brookings Institute piece. I know most won't read the 97 pages, but after the read i'm sitting here with eyes wide open and my fingers are itching to start banging on the keyboard.

To your point Swy, i think we are beginning to see their strategy, and it looks like the members are going to be on the receiving end yet again. I'll put this in it's own thread, because it is that damned inflamatory.
