Way awesome post Matt, thanks.

Bill asks the right strategic question -- what have we (reformers, transformers, etc.) accomplished? What have we got to show? But then he just throws up his hands in despair, "nothing!"

It is push/pull brother, and was one of the ways i learned to move the peanut. I never believed stuff just happened. We make it happen by doing the right things.

I've used this analogy a hundred times, but it fits. I sobered up just over thirty years ago. The first step in the recovery was to admit i was a drunk, the second was to look inside, see the warts and the ugly and decide it wasn't what i wanted to be.

This mess called organized labor needs the same kind of transformation. Ya can't ever fix stuff till ya know what ya want to fix. It is an awakening, and as i watch the stuff happening inside labor, i see very little in the way of real recovery.

I turned to the net as the next step in our rebirth. Damn Matt, it is working...and you are dead on right; just not fast enough for me. Here's how much i believe we are making a difference. I still can't type worth a crap, but there are probably 5000 posts (some of them monsters) floating around on the net. It represents a scary number of hours online pounding on a keyboard.

I do it for one reason, it is working. You only have to look at what is happening with the UFCW Canadian pension plan; with what is happening with the members at UFCW 588; with how websites are springing up and challenging this fanatical top down control driven model of biz unionism. Even those smug bastards are feeling the heat, the pressure.

As a bureaucrat, i learned you can never stop pushing (or you become one of them). As a person in recovery, i learned growth is essential and every day is an opportunity to do just that. In my evolution to try and become a reformer, i've tried to meld the two.

Success is meaningless if tomorrow you aren't trying to succeed/improve again. We have moved the mountain, and i absolutely know we are going to move it one hell of a lot further. Just every now and again ya gotta pull your head up and ask the questions, where are we pushing it to and why.

This morning i got out of bed and saw a red hued sky blazing. Way awesome, and like your post said, Dame Nature's colors aglow. Thanks for helping me appreciate them...just like helping make me appreciate what we have accomplished.
