@ Enforcer.....

Just checking in with you to see if you have any updates regarding UFCW Local 770's upcoming Local Union Election?

Are we still planning to have a series of Meet & Greet events in the 805 in the near future? Let us know how we can help?

BTW..... Regarding the above Store Locations list, at your convenience, please let us know who the respective UFCW Local 770 Union Representative(s) that are assigned to said UFCW 770 Stores in the 805. If you can provide a photo of said Local 770 Rep., that would be very helpful for us in the event we should encounter said Rep. in the stores.

Local 5's DOL "ordered" 3rd Union Election is wrapping up in 3, day's, June 30, 2014. Will keep you posted.

Thank You

Hey JB. Yes the meet and greets in the 805 are still on, similar to the campaign dates we have coming up. Ill post the hotel list soon, so we all can review the list. I just need to google map the locations. With the local 5 election coming to an end, in less than 48 hours, we can all work out more future dates for campaigning. Let us know what you all think of the flyers we sent, we’ll pick up the costs if you all need more copies of the flyers for the campaigning dates coming up very soon in the 805.

Speaking of costs... I must thank your group!!

We received the first fiscal donations from your group. I loved the memo line, “Reddog” that HC wrote on his.

UFCW 770 Leadership:

An election doesn’t need to be called to start campaigning early. I wouldn’t make any plans for personal vacations. However, may I remind you, any campaigning by your staff must be done off "union time" aka personal holidays, vacation days, and or sick days. After all, the 6 month election rule applies as of July 1st 2014. Have UFCW International Lisa Pedersen explain the rules of engagement to you, again. See you all in the stores very soon.

Developing Events in Southern California:

At around 8pm on July 9th 2014, a UFCW 770 member was on a walking path in Ventura County. He was approached from behind by individual(s) affiliated with UFCW 770, the individual(s) are listed on the UFCW 770 LM-2 as employee(s). Allegedly the employee(s) approached the member from behind, which led to an assault and also harsh words. Pedestrians saw what was allegedly happening.

This is the same UFCW 770 member who filed the complaint against Shaun Barclay and UFCW International

I wish you could see the look of not surprised on my face.

I have no clue what c/would trigger a RICO investigation but one would hope it's when a union member is assaulted for what appears no other reason than reporting fraudulent activity to the proper authorities - for little more than being an active participating member.

One would think UFCW international and the entire rest of the ufcw leadership would have been all over the Barclay scandal and done something to clean out the riff-raff. Instead corruption seems allowed to fester - hmmmm....

(Once we receive a copy of the police report, we will post it here)
While the consequences of UFCW 770 actions are obvious, there is something else that must be shared.

The UFCW 770 Member they assaulted was recently admitted into a ABA Accredited Law School in California. It is my understanding that the member already has a Bachelors and Masters Degree.

What does this mean for UFCW Locals in California in the future?

Use your imagination. They can all thank UFCW 770 and UFCW International.

Special Note About the DC Bar Exam

The District of Columbia Bar grants immediate reciprocity to anyone who passes another jurisdiction's exam, as long as that exam includes the MBE and the applicant gets a scaled score of at least 133. Therefore, many law school graduates take the bar exam in another jurisdiction and then apply for member ship to the DC Bar based on the results of that exam.

Other Ways to Gain Entrance to the DC Bar

Application for Admission by Motion (Without Examination)

You are eligible to be admitted to the bar if you meet one of the following requirements:

1. You are a member in good standing of another state’s Bar

2. You have received a J.D. or L.L.B. degree from an ABA-approved school, received a scaled score of at least 133 on the MBE and a scaled score of 75 or more on the MPRE

In the UFCW 770 delegates election in 2013, the opposition group sent out a mailer to the membership in the grocery industry.

The flyer contained the following Heading…
Quote:
A Potential UNION DUES INCREASE is on the Horizon
The flyer also contained UFCW 770 union representatives salary and also information about potential union dues(per capita) increases possibly being voted on at the upcoming UFCW Convention.
Quote:
Following the Delegates Election and the UFCW Convention, Rick Icaza sent out this memo card to the UFCW 770 membership.

Quote:
The delegates to the UFCW International Convention voted
to authorize a dues increase of $3 per month effective. October 1, 2013. President Icaza has determined… Therefore he has decided NOT to implement this dues increase for members in your classification at this time.

Seems the oppositions campaign mailing in the delegates election was very effective, right Paul Edwards? Quite frankly, Paul Edwards shouldn't take all the heat for this. After all, the reason UFCW 770 and UFCW International have issues with Southern California members is all due to Shaun Barclay. Don't remember why, Shaun? Ask Mike Russow. (Hi Mike)
