Just couldn't help myself; had to share this! Mr. Green

"We support the election process, we support democracy, but that doesn't mean we have to support governments that get elected as a result of democracy," Bush said.

Thus we allow the most atrocious lies uttered by political and moral prostitutes to go unchallenged. These lies are endlessly recycled in the commercial media until they become ingrained in the public conscience as truth. Worse than burying our heads in the sand, we bury them up our collective ass. How do you like the view? - Charles Sullivan -

The view is okay if you don't mind constantly staring at a brick wall outside your window and the stench is tolerable if you don't mind the constant smell of shit in this daily existence they call life!

But it was impossible to save the Great Republic. She was rotten to the heart. Lust of conquest had long ago done its work; trampling upon the helpless abroad had taught her, by a natural process, to endure with apathy the like at home; multitudes who had applauded the crushing of other people's liberties, lived to suffer for their mistake in their own persons. The government was irrevocably in the hands of the prodigiously rich and their hangers-on; the suffrage was become a mere machine, which they used as they chose. There was no principle but commercialism, no patriotism but of the pocket.
- Mark Twain-

Arthur Miller once wrote, "Few of us can easily surrender our belief that society must somehow make sense. The thought that the state has lost its mind and is punishing so many innocent people is intolerable. And so the evidence has to be internally denied." And in the words of a man named Franklin, "The doorstep to the temple of wisdom is a knowledge of our own ignorance".

There is no nation on earth powerful enough to accomplish our overthrow. ... Our destruction, should it come at all, will be from another quarter. From the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence, I must confess that I do apprehend some danger. I fear that they may place too implicit a confidence in their public servants, and fail properly to scrutinize their conduct; that in this way they may be made the dupes of designing men, and become the instruments of their own undoing." - Daniel Webster -

How did he know eh. It just goes to show you - the dire isn't new, it's been around at least for a few centuries. That's assuming Webster was speaking in and of the present. If it was a long cast prediction then we may be in trouble.

“Actions are held to be good or bad, not on their own merits, but according to who does them. There is almost no kind of outrage-----torture, imprisonment without trial, assassination, the bombing of civilians-----which does not change its moral color when it is committed by ‘our’ side. … The nationalist not only does not disapprove of atrocities committed by his own side, he has a remarkable capacity for not even hearing about them.” -George Orwell-

"A human being is part of a whole, called by us the 'Universe,' a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest--a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty." -Albert Einstein-

Man is the only animal that deals in that atrocity of atrocities, War. He is the only one that gathers his brethren about him and goes forth in cold blood and calm pulse to exterminate his kind. He is the only animal that for sordid wages will march out... and help to slaughter strangers of his own species who have done him no harm and with whom he has no quarrel.... And in the intervals between campaigns he washes the blood off his hands and works for "the universal brotherhood of man" - with his mouth: - Mark Twain -

"If those in charge of our society - politicians, corporate executives, and owners of press and television - can dominate our ideas, they will be secure in their power. They will not need soldiers patrolling the streets. We will control ourselves."
- Howard Zinn -

Their plan has worked extremely well. And let's not leave out the biz-u structures from the "those in charge" list. They have incessantly and unscrupulously mirrored the corporate structures.

Saw an amazing movie the other day and have now found the book. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113264/ The movie is more about equalization of society, primarily through control of the TV.

See "Harrison Bergeron"

I have not yet read the book, but plan to. http://instruct.westvalley.edu/lafave/hb.htm

"Let us henceforth make war on all monopolies-whether corporate or union. The enemy of freedom is unrestrained power, and the champions of freedom will fight against the concetration of power wherever they find it." - Barry Goldwater, the spark which brought us the American Conservatism Movement - Razz
