With the recent announcement from the "Solidarity Alliance", UFCW President's Lind, Loveall & Sharpe have proclaimed that their "New Deal" with SaveMart / Luckys....
"is far superior to the employer's "last best and final" and meets our bargaining objectives of securing additional funding for our health benefit plan and providing for more full-time job opportunities". For reference and comparison purposes, here is The Last Best and Final Offer referenced above. Save Mart SuperMarkets / Luckys Proposals UFCW Local's 5 and 648 June 6, 2012 Last, Best and Final Offer According to President Jacques Loveall: "Both sides have agreed not to release the details of the tentative agreement until Union members have had the opportunity to review and ratify it." "Members will receive mail ballots and materials explaining the details of the tentative agreement in the next few weeks." Based on serious concerns that Lind, Loveall and Sharpe will withhold revealing the entire and complete details of the "Tentative Agreement" and to ensure that the SaveMart / Lucky Member's within UFCW Local's 5, 8 and 648 have an opportunity to review the "NEW DEAL"in it's entirety between SAVEMART / LUCKYS and UFCW Local's 5, 8 & 648. Please review the following documents very very carefully !!!!! 1. UFCW Local 5, 8 & 648 Settlement Agreement (Total 14 Pages): http://www.uncharted.ca/images/users/ssigurdur/settlement_agreement_ufcw5_8_648.pdf 2. UFCW Local 5 "Stabilization Agreement" (Total 5 Pages): http://www.uncharted.ca/images/users/ssigurdur/stabilization_agreement_ufcw5.pdf 3. UFCW Local 8 & 648 "Stabilization Agreement" (Total 7 Pages): http://www.uncharted.ca/images/users/ssigurdur/stabilization_agreement_ufcw8_648.pdf ADDITIONALLY, please take the time to cross check each and every Contract Section Number, including Any and ALL "New Proposed Language" found in the Tentative Agreement with the current contract language found in the 2007-2011 (SAVEMART / LUCKY) & UFCW LOCAL 5, UFCW Local 8 & UFCW Local 648 Contracts. Please make sure that you understand how the "New Proposed Language" found in the Tentative Agreement will impact you! For your convenience, here is a link to review the 2007-2011 C.B.A. Between UFCW Local 5 & SaveMart / Luckys. 2007-2011 C.B.A. Finally, after you have the opportunity to review all of the numerous concessions contained in the SAVEMART / LUCKY "NEW DEAL", once again we would encourage you to review the following thread and sign the Pledge/Petition . |

I wonder what Bill Sable would be thinking about all of this? UFCW Local 648 signing with UFCW Local 8?
50% of fulltimers reduced to part time and 4 holidays lost. Nothing mentioned about H/W. Damm, that's gotta hurt some people. Wonder if the beloved "solidarity team" bullshit artists are going to take a paycut. Maybe one less free meal a week? I see a 99% yes vote coming. _________________ “The burden against Damascus. ‘Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, and it will be a ruinous heap. (Isaiah 17:1-2) |

It is important to note that Lind, Loveall and Sharpe negotiated different "Expiration Dates" for the Term of Agreement for the "Settlement Agreement" & "Stabilization Agreement".
Check it out. The TERM OF AGREEMENT for the "Settlement Agreement" On behalf of UFCW Local's 5, 8 and 648 is; October 9, 2011--- October 12, 2013. The TERM OF AGREEMENT for the "Stabilization Agreement" On behalf of UFCW Local 5 is; August 8, 2012 --- August 10, 2014. The TERM OF AGREEMENT for the "Stabilization Agreement" On behalf of UFCW Local's 8 & 648 is; August 8, 2012 --- August 10, 2014. So the question for our Lind, Loveall and Sharpe is WHY would they have the "STABILIZATION AGREEMENTS" extend past the October 12, 2013 expiration date of their "Settlement Agreement"????? 10 EXTRA MONTHS OUR MEMBERS MUST SUFFER SERIOUS CONCESSIONS AND FOR WHAT REASON????? |

I thought I'd share the following by RCSS over on another thread.
This is a great analysis of what newer UFCW members are looking at under these "far superior" contracts being negotiated(wink-wink-nod-nod) by UFCW's best. I believe RCSS's analysis will be life for many here in Northern Ca. in a few weeks when the Lind, Loveall & Sharpe dream team ram this "New Deal" up Save Mart/Lucky workers ass! Shameful, truly shameful! _________________ "When people refuse to obey, then democracy comes alive." Howard Zinn |

It's all there, (Sect: 14 1 thru 8 ) of the "stablization" agreement(s) - whereas employers promise to turn their back while ufcw goes mining for fresh dues. The trade-off - members take the concession hit so ufcw can grow it's dues.
And they did a half-ass job of that one too. Exactly how incompetent are these CA ufcw dudes and dudettes? When ufcw 1518 sold out it's BC membership for fresh dues it at least came away from the table with straight up 'voluntary recognition' language covering the employer's non-union stores. _________________ Free speech is the whole thing, the whole ball game. Sharyn --- Interestingly enough, the "Stabilization Agreements" for (Local 5) and (Local 8 & 648) are DIFFERENT!!!!!
Specifically, ( Section 14; 1 thru 8 ) DOES NOT appear in Local 5's "Stabilization Agreement"?????? Additionally, Section 14. item #8, (Local 8 and 648's "Stabilization Agreement") is in DIRECT VIOLATION of President Hansen's previous statement in letter to me that I previously posted here @ uncharted.ca. ,which also includes a couple of e emails that I sent to him regarding this same subject matter (previously posted). Lind, Loveall and Sharpe are not only INCOMPETENT they are AN ABSOLUTE EMBARRASSMENT TO THE LABOR MOVEMENT. It's time for LIND, LOVEALL AND SHARPE TO RETIRE!!!!!!!! |

I wonder why H/W funding is mentioned in the last best and final and not mentioned in the stabaliztion accord.
Dont they need agreement from all parties to H/W funding? Safeway, Raleys and others need to chip in as well? _________________ “The burden against Damascus. ‘Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, and it will be a ruinous heap. (Isaiah 17:1-2) |

Would there be a need for the H&W to be mentioned in the stabilization agreements if they're sufficiently gutted in the tentative? Hmmm... would seem even concessions have a shelf life. Some are usable long after the expiration date, others are best tossed before.

Quote: It is outrageous that the Union's have already given SaveMart / Luckys numerous Contract Concessions dating back to the 2007-2011 C.B.A. http://www.uncharted.ca/images/users/ssigurdur/savemart_cba_comparison_local5.pdf With Local 8's inability to organize Raleys, the largest double - breasted Employer in Northern Ca. including Lind, Loveall and Sharpe living up to the Paper Tiger Reputation of the UFCW, the end result appears to be that our Union Leader's goal is WalMartizing the Contracts they Negotiate! |
