After ten (10) months of Negotiations out here in Northern California between (Raleys / Nob Hill), (SaveMart / Lucky), (Safeway / Vons) and UFCW Local’s 5, 8 and 648, our Union Leadership have announced that our first CONCESSIONARY CONTRACT will be with Savemart / Luckys.

Unfortunately for UFCW Local 5’s President Ron Lind and his PLAN to slide Local 5’s Nomination and Election of Officer’s under the radar during these Negotiations seems to have run into a problem.
Quote:

http://www.uncharted.ca/images/users/ssigurdur/ufcw5_summer_2012.pdf
Clearly, President Lind and Local 5’s entire Executive Board’s main objective was to move their previously reported targeted Election Date from October 2012 (2011 LM2 Report), to June 2012 in hopes of securing a “white ballot” thus being able to declare victory on behalf of President Lind and the entire Executive Board BEFORE the CONCESSIOANRY CONTRACTS started hitting the streets.

Quote:
Keeping in mind that UFCW Local 5 had to finalize and submit their 2011 information for their LM2 Report early in 2012.

Now check out Item #19. and the DATE that UFCW Local 5 filed in their DOL LM2 Report for the date of their next regular election of officers.

19. What is the date of the labor organization's next regular election of officers? 10/2012

UFCW Local 5's DOL LM2 File No. 543-632
But wait, as I said earlier, President Lind’s Plan seems to have run into a problem.

Looks like President Lind will have Roger Rivera, a Union Representative currently employed with UFCW Local 5, will be challenging President Ron Lind for the Presidency at Local 5!

Mr. Rivera seems to have already started his campaign with the following Flyers being passed out to the Members throughout Local 5’s jurisdiction.

Based on the content of these flyer’s it appears that “some” of Local 5’s staff may not approve of these CONCESSIONARY CONTRACTS that our Local Union Leader’s are so willing to give to their Employer Buddies!Based on my curiosity concerning President Lind’s Salary during his Presidency at UFCW Local 5 I did some research.
Quote:
Here are the LM2 Salary Comparisons for President Ron Lind from 2004 to and including 2011.

Here is the DOL Website Link to obtain LM2 Reports:
http://kcerds.dol-esa.gov/query/getOrgQry.do

UFCW LOCAL 428 - FILE # 027-504
UFCW LOCAL 5 ---- FILE # 543-632

Note: Since I do not know the specific policy as it pertains to each individual’s expenses, allowances, etc., I will be using their “total amount” of monies listed on each of their LM2 Report.

Please refer to each individual’s respective yearly LM2 report for their “detailed amount” of allowances, disbursements, etc.

I apologize in advance for any inadvertent errors or omissions and the applicable LM2 Report for each individual shall govern.

2011 = UFCW Local 5 ---- President Ron Lind = $193,887.00
2010 = UFCW Local 5 ---- President Ron Lind = $188,534.00
2009 = UFCW Local 5 ---- President Ron Lind = $184,061.00
2008 = UFCW Local 5 ---- President Ron Lind = $177,332.00
2007 = UFCW Local 5 ---- President Ron Lind = $162,199.00
2006 = UFCW Local 428- President Ron Lind = $121,250.00
2005 = UFCW Local 428- President Ron Lind = $113,115.00
2004 = UFCW Local 428- President Ron LInd = $108,468.00

Note: UFCW Local 5 became effective 1-1-07.

President Ron Lind also receives a $20,000.00 dollar a year stipend from the UFCW I.U. as a I.U. V.P., in addition to his yearly salary he receives from UFCW Local 5.

To be continued....

"THE DEAL IS COMPLICATED"

"IT'S SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN ANYTHING WE'VE DONE IN THE PAST"

After  Ten (10) or more months of Negotiations with SAVEMART, RALEYS and SAFEWAY, when asked by the SACBEE to provide some details on the recent SAVEMART / LUCKY SETTLEMENT, PRESIDENT RON LIND'S response will live in infamy forever.

(SEE SACBEE ARTICLE BELOW)

Save Mart's Labor Deal Puts Heat On Raley's and Safeway

"The deal "is complicated," said Ron Lind, president of Local 5 in San Jose, in a brief interview".

"It's something completely different than anything we've done in the past."

SERIOUSLY, President Lind, is that all that you've got to say after ten (10) months of Negotiations with SAVEMART / LUCKYS?

PRESIDENT LIND told the SACBEE, "It's something completely different than anything we've done in the past."

FRIGHTENING Words to say the least coming from President Lind!

After doing some research,  President Lind was referring to "THE STABILIZATION AGREEMENT"  found in a portion of the following SuperMarket News Article.

"The agreement includes what labor leaders called a “stabilization agreement” providing temporary labor cost reductions “to assist Save Mart in its current economic challenges.”

How does that old saying go?

It doesn't matter how much lipstick you put on a pig, it will always be a pig!

Same goes for the NEW  SAVEMART / LUCKY DEAL.

A CONCESSIONARY CONTRACT WILL ALWAYS BE A
CONCESSIONARY CONTRACT NO MATTER WHAT FANCY NAME YOU WANT TO CALL IT!

SHAME ON YOU PRESIDENT LIND FOR USING THE TRUST FUND AUDITOR'S TO AUDIT SAVEMART / LUCKYS!

A CONFLICT OF INTEREST ALL THE WAY!!!!!

BY Using the  TRUST Fund AUDITOR'S PROVIDED YOU WITH THE POLITICAL COVER TO JUSTIFY CONCESSIONS FOR YOUR EMPLOYER BUDDY......
 SAVEMART / LUCKYS !

PRESIDENT LIND IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO RETIRE!!!!

Nice! Congrats, Roger! We need a Pres. where his main priorities are treatment of the workers & strength of the union...NOT his opportunity to make more money and advance his career. That only comes second after you've done a great job and not a half-@ssed one. I'm talking to you Lind, if your reading this...

Please feel free to save and print these flyers/fliers and distribute them. Share them with whomever you like. If any of you work in UFCW Local 5 Union Stores, Please help with Roger's campaign. If you can go visit a few stores that would be just great!

Funds are few, but he has plenty of optimism and true grit. This is truly a
"David against Goliath" election in terms of resources.

hello ALL,

Just found this - this morning... As some of you will know (I am new here-leaving UPS and TDU-taking a grocery job-coming to UFCW Surprised )

I think I have found the issues where I may find those mentors here in this issue topic. Hopefully, with a fine tooth comb-I can find that mentors(s)...

http://www.uncharted.ca/images/users/ssigurdur/rr_rebuttal_ltr.pdf

Well-I am glad to see Latino's moving forward... However, sexual preference, race and ethnicity-religion-gender-etc... should NOT BE CONSIDERATIONS in/for leadership...

Who is brother Rivero (Roger), who is brother Lind (Ron)... Where are the Sisters??? Where are our Sisters... Why is my own union the BROTHERHOOD of Teamsters (why not association)...

Seemingly, the "contract" is an issue-I see the "pension" is an issue... I see that there are accuastions flying... Luckily (although I see critsizm, THANK GOD-I don't see venom... TDU is a VENOM RUN ORGANIZATION... is it that way here too.

Many of us younger people want to build real worker power. However, as much as you all have done to build castles on the mountain-you have also taught us to read the fine print... And, as many of us learned... when the ink is venom, well - it was written by snakes.

As some will know, I am SEACHING FOR THOSE MENTORS-mentors that will be BUILDING REAL WORKER POWER... I want/need to be part of this... I am 22 years and a student... I need to find my place in BUILDING REAL WORKER POWER...

Is this where it is??? Shocked

Attention UFCW Local 5 Members:

Undoubtedly you have recently seen and or talked with President Lind, Secretary Treasurer Tim Hamann and countless UFCW LOCAL 5 Union Representatives flooding the stores within Local 5's jurisdiction while President Lind, Sec. Treasurer Tim Hamann, including Local 5 Union Representatives tout all their "alleged" accomplishments over the last several years while in the same breath trying to solicit support from  Local 5 Members to re-elect themselves for another three (3) years!

As this campaign heats up, the next time President Lind, Secretary Treasurer Tim Hamann and or any Local 5 Union Representative or current Local 5 Executive Board Member comes into your store "touting" all of their "alleged" BULL SHIT accomplishments, just ask them if they are prepared to "Put Up
Or Shut Up" by signing the PLEDGE!

Time For Our UFCW Bureaucrats To Share Our Pain

It is real simple!

It's Time for Our UFCW Union Leader's to Share in Our Pain Resulting from Concessionary Contracts They Negotiate!

If they won't "Share in Our Pain" than WE don't want them as our Union Leaders!

Attention UFCW Local 5 Members:

While you wait for your Union Election Materials to arrive in your mailboxes, let's assume for a moment that you haven't decided who you will vote for as our President at Local 5 and or the numerous Executive Board positions that are also open for election.

In an effort to provide you with some information for you to consider in making your decision(s), let's first begin with the following question(s) pertaining to your current Union Leadership.

As a result of the Bay Area Merger of 8 UFCW Local Unions, (#101,#120,#373,#428,#839,
#870,#1179& #1096) now known as UFCW Local 5, has President Lind & the current Executive Board Members, delivered on all their previous promises dating back to the creation of Local 5 effective January 1, 2007?

Is Local 5, under the Leadership of President Lind & the current Executive Board, making decisions that benefit and or reward themselves, or does their decisions benefit or reward over 30,000  Members at Local 5?

How does President Lind & the current Executive Board justify the Salary Increases For Local 5's Staff since 2007 to the present, including raising the Dues for the entire Membership at UFCW Local 5, while the entire Membership  continues to have to deal with Concessionary Contracts negotiated by our Union Leadership?

To illustrate my point / question(s) above, here is some suggested reading for your review:

Speaking of Concessionary Contracts, here is the "MOTHER" of them all.

Clearly the "Train Is Off The Track" at UFCW Local 5!

The Lind Regime will try and deny and or put their own "spin" on all of the above. That's fine. I would expect them to take that position.

However, the FACTS are the FACTS, I will let Local 5 MEMBERS decide!
