After ten (10) months of Negotiations out here in Northern California between (Raleys / Nob Hill), (SaveMart / Lucky), (Safeway / Vons) and UFCW Local’s 5, 8 and 648, our Union Leadership have announced that our first CONCESSIONARY CONTRACT will be with Savemart / Luckys.
Unfortunately for UFCW Local 5’s President Ron Lind and his PLAN to slide Local 5’s Nomination and Election of Officer’s under the radar during these Negotiations seems to have run into a problem. Quote: UFCW Local 5's Notice Of Nominations For Election Of Officers for 2012

Mr. Rivera seems to have already started his campaign with the following Flyers being passed out to the Members throughout Local 5’s jurisdiction. Based on the content of these flyer’s it appears that “some” of Local 5’s staff may not approve of these CONCESSIONARY CONTRACTS that our Local Union Leader’s are so willing to give to their Employer Buddies! Please feel free to save and print these flyers/fliers and distribute them. Share them with whomever you like. If any of you work in UFCW Local 5 Union Stores, Please help with Roger's campaign. If you can go visit a few stores that would be just great!

hello ALL,
Just found this - this morning... As some of you will know (I am new here-leaving UPS and TDU-taking a grocery job-coming to UFCW  )
I think I have found the issues where I may find those mentors here in this issue topic. Hopefully, with a fine tooth comb-I can find that mentors(s)... http://www.uncharted.ca/images/users/ssigurdur/rr_rebuttal_ltr.pdf Well-I am glad to see Latino's moving forward... However, sexual preference, race and ethnicity-religion-gender-etc... should NOT BE CONSIDERATIONS in/for leadership... Who is brother Rivero (Roger), who is brother Lind (Ron)... Where are the Sisters??? Where are our Sisters... Why is my own union the BROTHERHOOD of Teamsters (why not association)... Seemingly, the "contract" is an issue-I see the "pension" is an issue... I see that there are accuastions flying... Luckily (although I see critsizm, THANK GOD-I don't see venom... TDU is a VENOM RUN ORGANIZATION... is it that way here too. Many of us younger people want to build real worker power. However, as much as you all have done to build castles on the mountain-you have also taught us to read the fine print... And, as many of us learned... when the ink is venom, well - it was written by snakes. As some will know, I am SEACHING FOR THOSE MENTORS-mentors that will be BUILDING REAL WORKER POWER... I want/need to be part of this... I am 22 years and a student... I need to find my place in BUILDING REAL WORKER POWER... Is this where it is???
