Any bets Loughner was a "Ritalin" kid? Nothing like methylphenidate_s to mess with a head.

This should put a big dent in the bullshit propaganda that the shooting was just the act of a deranged individual and nothing more.

Westboro Baptist Church To Picket Funerals Of Arizona Shooting Victims

Any thoughts on how long it will take all this insanity to break into a full out U.S. Civil War # 2 ???

Sorry CR but one classmate's perception as quoted (or possibly misquoted) in the nyt and for whom no background was provided doesn't cut it. If you think it does then perhaps you can also explain why a crazed "leftist" would target Democrats?

I really feel for the families of the people slain and hurt. The fact of the matter is the American people killed them. Was the person who pulled the trigger nuts, most likely. That person should never have been able to lay his hands on a gun. That is what is wrong, not the left or the right. It is really sad when this happens and everybody jumps up and starts blaming others, this person or that side or that point of view. You gave that person the means to do this buy giving him a gun, plain and simple. Don't blame others for the lack of medical care or lax gun laws or their point of view. I think it can only be traced back to your constitution and how it is applied for the reason. This will happen again and again until people realize that you don't need machine guns etc., you need health care for the people who really need it. Taking half of the nut cases off of tv and the radio might go a long way to help also, but is okayed also under freedom of speech. Crying or Very sad

For as many right wing views as you can find and post CR, there is a left wing counter.

I have yet to read or find the answer to my question: How is it that a crazed "leftist pothead" who, according to right wing view was motivated by "progressive hate" - would target his own side? No-one wants to go there.

Not that it's at all possible to determine either way, this thread could go on forever, but the question does leave a big hole in the right wing argument, no?

Gabrielle Giffords was a conservative Democrat and federal Judge John Roll was a Republican.

Quote:
Finger-pointing at the extreme rhetoric of some right-wingers has predictably done nothing but trigger finger-pointing by right-wingers at the extreme rhetoric of some left-wingers. And while I am not saying there is an equivalency here, such back-and-forth will cancel out and reduce the prospects for a meaningful discussion and debate about violence in this society.

The Media Missed the Point in the Tucson Shootings

It's not about violent rhetoric; it's about plain old red, white and blue violence.

Yup. And in case you missed the reference to our sacred tribal code when the president was reciting it...

"We ( are ) Americans , 300 million strong" ( sorry , Canadians... ) should mightily strive not to kill our own children here in the Homeland for political or policy reasons, whether mistakenly or on purpose.

Platitudes aside, I think Loughner's pysch. profile probl'y puts him safely near the top of a typical incoming class at Drone Operator School.

Nonetheless,in the aftermath of the murders, the U.S. Army public relations dept. was double-time, quick to claim they had rejected Mr. Loughner application for enlistment. They were reluctant to violate Mr. Loughner's privacy ... so it was said... so they couldn't furnish the precise reason(s) for declining Loughner's offer of public service.

Perhaps he showed signs of potential disobedience. Maybe he didn't look to be 'trainable ' enough to pull the fatal trigger on command. Or, perhaps he was thought to be too obedient, or too trigger-happy to be making life or death decisions about folks and their children way out there... way out there beyond the trip-wire where the other people lurk .
