Workers say they still hope to get back to the bargaining table with the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, the parent company of Mott's, but it's not that easy.

"They're not interested," Linda Van De Viver, a Motts employee of 10 years, said.

On Wednesday, they got a big boost with the support of the International President of the United Food and Commercial Workers union, Joe Hansen.

"Every member of the UFCW in the United States and Canada is going to throw their full support behind you," Hansen said.

He says the 1.4 million members of UFCW will reach out to the public and that he plans to reach out to federal policy makers in a meeting at the White House on Thursday.

See more on Mott's strike

Funny thing Joe, I haven't heard word one about the Mott's strike from my local union(UFCW Local 8 Golden State). Maybe Jacques didn't get the memo? Mr. Green

Matter of fact Joe I haven't heard anything from you about this strike either! What's up with that?

My first info about the Mott's strike came from an email I got from Labor Notes today.

Any other UFCW members out there hear about this strike from your UFCW leaders yet?

Scott;

Early this month, I received a copy of the "WORKERS July 2010" issue, and in this publication on page 7 the headline reads “Members at Mott’s plant go on strike”

On August 12, 2010 UFCW Local 135 posted an update on the union website…

www.ufcw135.org HOME PAGE

*BREAKING NEWS*

>08/12/10 *Sour Apples: Mott’s Workers Continue Strike as Harvest Season Looms*

I love, UFCW 135, Mickey keeps us inform, Mickey is a great leader. Rolling Eyes

Good to hear Ross that at least one UFCW local got the news out. Hey Joe another 1.3 million members to inform and maybe the Motts workers may have a chance Rolling Eyes

Ross maybe you can ask Mickey to send Jacques the memo so some of the local 8 members might be able to support their brothers and sisters at Motts? Wink

Of coarse it may be hard to reach Jacques these days considering he's probably out mountain climbing somewhere Twisted Evil

Want to help get the word out? Print out the flyers below and hand them out at your local supermarket. Have some flyers left over? Try taping them to the shelves near where Mott's products are displayed.

Here's a link to print flyers to help get the word out and get involved with "in-store actions"

http://www.nobadapples.org/

Others of you out there may have better luck than I had on printing the flyers, neither would work for me. If the flyers open for any of you please let me know.

Wouldn't that just be like the UFCW to do an on-line action and not have the printed message available for activist types who wanted to participate?

Nothing from local 1518 as far as I've heard. Perhaps it's that when Joe Hansen refers to "weight", he's not talking about 1.4 mil people but that he's talking about money.

Money is after all, what got him off to a good start and made him who he is today. And he does have quite a stockpile from ufcw members. So I'm thinking it's just a matter of Hansen getting to the bank before the MOTT members feel the love.

Scott,

My friend, Pedro, said that, all of the UFCW Local receives the same information at the same time. Therefore, it’s up to the individual locals to inform, the rank and file of whatever news that the local officials thinks is important to the rank and file to know.

The International knew about the possibility of a strike back on May 23, 2010

MOTT’S WORKERS PEEL AWAY CONTRACT TO THE CORE AND FIND NOTHING BUT A ROTTEN APPLE... DECLARE A STRIKE
http://www.ufcw.org/press_room/index.cfm?pressReleaseID=499

In reference to Mr. Lovell I don’t know for sure “rumors rumors”…Mr. Lovell should be visiting San Diego soon perhaps, Mickey can share some of his wisdom to improve UFCW Local 8 public relations.

Long live Mickey!

Need a favor! Can everyone got to this link
http://www.nobadapples.org/

On the right hand side of the page you'll see a box that says "in-store actions" click on that box.

When page opens go to bottom of page. You'll see to links, flyer 1 & flyer 2.

Will everyone try and open those flyers and tell me what you get? Neither will open for me and I'd like to see if it's just on my end or is everyone having the same problem. Thanks for the help.

THERE’S SOMETHING ROTTEN
AT MOTT’S
300 Mott’s workers in Williamson, NY have been
unfairly forced to go on strike after Mott’s proposed

Rose’s Lime Juice Snapple cans Mott’s Fruitsations

Well being that it appears the UFCW IU is not really that concerned with really informing the members about the Motts strike I thought maybe we could do our own action here at uncharted.

But as we can see the UFCW IU doesn't make the flyers easy to access for people who would like to help. What a surprise! Any way Sharyn you could make the content of flyer #2 available so some of us on the west coast and in Canada can get the message out into stores?

If the locals won't get the message out then why don't we? Should be real "easy" for members still working in the stores.

This file is damaged and could not be repaired

That's what I get Sharyn when I try to open the file.

Trying to reach out and help our brothers and sisters at Motts shouldn’t be this damn difficult!

You’d think with all the members dues $$$ the IU has to work with making an on-line file that opens easily wouldn’t be a problem?

Thanks for trying Sharyn.

Very odd indeed! I checked the entire RWDSU website and could not find "one" link that had the flyer for the IU's mentioned "in-store action".

Now I'll admit, I'm far from being the techy type and up on computer skills but why would all other links from the RWDSU open for me but the "so called" in-store action flyer not open? Also if the leaders of this local really wanted national support to battle Motts wouldn't one think they'd have a link on their web site for easy access to the flyer?

Not sure about the rest of you, but to me something smells a bit like another UFCW "sell out".

Not sure what the problem is Sharyn but I've tried over and over and still won't open. Any chance you can print a copy, scan on your end then email me a copy or create another link?

This may explain why I can't open the files.
