I've not been yet. Waiting to the last minute - counting starts at 5:30p - we'll know by six if we're out or not - which I highly doubt with these bunch nellies.

The guys that collect the union dues say they will have it on the website as soon as it's available.

What I will be interested in, is the % that actually voted.[/b]

No surprise!!!

Just got back from the count - no strike.
Don't ask me the % but hey, it was a win win. Union won and management won BUT the workers LOST.

I have never seen so many management people inside one store at the same time. There must have been 20 suits plus the department managers.

I understand that the Howard Johnson and Holiday Inn in Windsor were full of scabs just waiting in case the contract was turned-down.

Side note:
I understand the union was in the store all day and no one made a complaints about management (Big guy Bronko) putting up the new Club Pack display.

The saga continues.

That's really too bad - another opportunity lost! So management was building a grocery display right under the union noses and no one said anything? Too much but not surprising since they don't give a rat's ass about the rank and file.

It's a good guess that due to ufcw's gross incompetence, your employer may have been gifted an arbitration award, side letter or some such, which allows it's management free range to do bargaining unit work so long as the practice doesn't cut into (what's left of) existing full-time positions/hours.

UFCW Local 1518 lost just such an award to it's retail employer(s). 1518's second tier (junior) members have no claim to any hours management use doing work that - prior to ufcw 1518's bungling - once belonged to the membership. There may be one close to you.

The worst thing about this contract is the length of time. With this new round of stimules or what is called Quanitive Easing QE/2 will virtuely guarantee what is called a Minskey Meltup in the stockmarket brought about by the onset of hyperinflation.
This will effect all of the G-20 countries.
All UFCW members should take steps to protect themselves against all food items going up to outrages levels. Our union leadership is either to stupid or is working with the employers to enslave us.

The Bond markets are in a bubble and the stockmarket is rigged to create the largest bull trap in history.
The stockmarket will go up and pay off with worthless paper money backed by nothing soon to be worth nothing.
