The Dinner Roll...
Quote:
Dinner at the White House - a parable

Once upon a time, I was invited to the White House for a private dinner with the President. I am a respected businessman, with a factory that produces memory chips for computers and portable electronics. There was some talk that my industry was being scrutinized by the administration, but I paid it no mind. I live in a free country. There's nothing that the government can do to me if I've broken no laws. My wealth was earned honestly, and an invitation to dinner with an American President is an honor.

Can I say horse pucky? How about fundamentalist conservative drivel most likely in response to the health care reform bill.

Obviously the inference of the not so subtle "parable" is that Obama and his team must be stopped. And stopped now before hard working businessmen are stripped of and forced to share the wealth. Be more careful what you read (track in) grumpy. Wink

SharynS, this wasn't meant to say that I believe in this all, just another point of view.

If you took the corperate owner out and plugged in a comon person, or small business owner, we are getting rights and money stripped from us everyday.

I am allways scepticle when our gov. states that we are doing what is best for the people. Yes, this is what they are supposed to do, but the track record speeks for it self.

This indicates that you sort of do agree. That people are being stripped. The obvious question would be by whom or what. Is this a new phenomenon with the current administration or a carry over from some past administrations or both? It's easy to point fingers (witness the parable) but I'd be looking for root causes.

Had the "parable" surfaced during the Bush years I might not be as skeptical. If the website where the "parable" originates wasn't awash with similar unfounded nonsense I also might not be as skeptical. In fact, if there weren't so many whole sentences and words spelled correctly I'd think it was right out of the tea party manual.

Propaganda must include tidbits of truth or it wouldn't have a hope in hell on the open market. A little something for people to connect with. Basically tidbits of commonality wrapped in whatever nonsense the seller is trying to sell. Whereas truth and fact can stand alone.

The moral of this "parable" is: Beware of the "brown" eyed president (and his administration), they are out to inflict socialism.

Sorry Grumpy as screwed up as it all is, and as many mistakes as I think the Obama administration has made, I also understand the mess was years in the making and it's quite possibly going to be years in it's undoing. Unlike the parable's author, I take comfort in the fact that it seems to be going in a less destructive direction.

Why Sig, I think you've been reading Ann Coulter. Which reminds me, she was up there in your neighborhood not long ago wasn't she?

Hang in there Grumpy, you're on the right track.

Casey Jones was sure he was riding the right track on the night of April 30 back in 1900. However, that didn't keep him from being the first one to the scene-o-the-crash on Southbound No. 1. Wink

Hey Grump....you(and many others) have been losing "rights" for years now! Ever hear of the "Patriot Act"? Gee what government leader put that in place? Where were all the Tea Party protesters then?

Oh yes! They were all busy running up and down the streets waving their (made in China) American flags!

That's a fact LY. Patriot act, NAFTA, etc. It doesn't matter who is in office, they are all basicly doing the same thing.

SharynS, IMHO this story has more to do with all our local, state, and fed. gov., than just the current admin. I posted it because I thought it was a cool analagy, not to take shot's at Obama. Hell, I want him to succeed. I want all our leaders to succeed. If they succeed, than we all succeed. I think he is saying the right things, as many in the past have, and look where it has gotten us. I think this story could be more about the middle class(no matter what "party" you believe in), and how we keep taking it in the short's.

Our own unions keep making desicions for us that are supposed to be in everyone's best interest, are they ? Rolling Eyes

We all want transparency, and I don't think we are getting it. If the health care bill is so important(it is), then put it to a vote with no hidden B.S.

Big Brother is allready looking over our shoulder more than ever, next thing he will be in our home. Oh yea, it's not really our home. We have to get permission from little brother to rebuild a deck, etc.

Is this really a free country ? Compared to others, yes, but are we headed in the right direction ?

I think I gained quite a bit of freedom once I didn't have to ask those questions anymore. We actually are living in an increasingly transparent society. I can already see all the dirty little secrets, marketing schemes, and the inhumanity en mass.

The shot was so pointed toward Obama how was anyone to know that. FTR I said less destructive direction, right or wrong only time will tell.

Okay Mull I give, wanna talk about coulter? I have to say she is turning my head some. She recently likened herself to god. I will have to admit that if I thought there was a god, indeed coulter does come close to everything I imagined about this almighty being (ie: quite similar track records).

Coulter does indeed have all the makings of the god I've experienced and heard so much about (works in mysterious ways, cruel jokes, anorexic). If she can get that hasn't been seen in centuries thing down I promise to believe.

Tea Party Hypocrites Hate Socialism Except When They Love It

Make sure to read peoples comments at the bottom of the page.

Quote:
To those who demonize the poor by equating “helping the poor” with “spreading the wealth” and “socialism”, I suggest you take the Socialist-Free Purity Pledge:

“I pledge to eliminate all government intervention in my life. I will abstain from the use of and participation in any socialist goods and services including but not limited to the following:

“Social Security – Medicare/Medicaid – State Children’s Health Insurance Programs (SCHIP) – Police, Fire, and Emergency Services – US Postal Service — Roads and Highways — Air Travel (regulated by the socialist FAA) — The US Railway System — Public Subways and Metro Systems –Public Bus and Light Rail Systems — Rest Areas on Highways — Sidewalks –All Government-Funded Local/State Projects — Public Water and Sewer Services (goodbye socialist toilet, shower, dishwasher, kitchen sink, outdoor hose!) — Public and State Universities and Colleges — Public Primary and Secondary Schools — Public Museums — Libraries –Public Parks and Beaches — State and National Parks — Public Zoos — Unemployment Insurance — Municipal Garbage and Recycling Services –Treatment at Any Hospital or Clinic That Ever Received Funding From Local, State or Federal Government (pretty much all of them) — Medical Services and Medications That Were Created or Derived From Any Government Grant or Research Funding (again, pretty much all of them) — Socialist Byproducts of Government Investment Such as Duct Tape and Velcro (Nazi-NASA Inventions) — Use of the Internets, email, and networked computers, as the DoD’s ARPANET was the basis for subsequent computer networking — Foodstuffs, Meats, Produce and Crops That Were Grown With, Fed With, Raised With or That Contain Inputs From Crops Grown With Government Subsidies — Clothing Made from Crops (e.g. cotton) That Were Grown With or That Contain Inputs From Government Subsidies — If a veteran of the government-run socialist US military, I will forgo my VA benefits and insist on paying for my own medical care.”

A friend of mine shared this story this morning. It is written by a young educator named Katherine Jumbe. Tea Partiers this isn't a singalong.
Quote:
You complain that people try to demean your cause by denying the "average Joe" credentials of your "nurses, teachers, mechanics, stay-at-home-moms, bus drivers and small-business owners," but you, in turn, pretend that there are no nurses, stay-at-home moms, bus-drivers, or small-business owners who want or need health care reform. You imply that the nurses, mechanics and teachers (like me, or my mother, or my friends) who want health care reform do not "want to protect our freedom." You see yourself as a fresh wind blown here from 1773, but your methods -- the screaming, the bullying, the stigmatizing of elected officials who act other than as you wish -- do not to enrich the public discourse, they overwhelm it.

I am from Canada but I have to say this movement sounds very close to the Klu Klux Klan thing. Why do a lot of people down there get their collective shorts in a knot because a Pres. has a vision of helping Americans that can't get health insurance. Is it because the people doing the screaming the loudest have lined up with the Republican party of nut cases to screw over their own country men and women and children? Only in America would ordinary people try to run down people that cannot afford to pay the outrageous sums demanded by the overly rich insurance firms. From where I sit the people yelling the loudest and putting the spin on it that the government is taking over their lives are more that likely the ones that voted for Bush and his boys. They not the people screwed the ordinary people in the states. You most likely have the most corrupt form of government in the world, with every politician raping the system and pandering to big business. Coulter is nothing but a racist cloking herself in the supposebly american way. If that is what america is all about, then lord help the world.
