The union movement peaked in the late 1960's just before freer trade and deregulation organized by "labour's partners—the business class) started to destroy it.

I was just entering the workforce then and I lived and worked through the big slide downhill.

The organized unions never did understand what was happening to them. Not really.

Their job was to wipe out the radicals. By the early 1970's the last of the Stalinists and independent thinkers were being wiped out. So their "need" and usefulness to business was gone and so very soon so where they.

Listening to the heads of the unions speak is sad. So much noise and no substance.
