What is the article's point - that both countries are majorly screwed up? That people will pick rotten eggs over rotten fish?

The stats do seem to show Barrack is more popular all around, just barely. But I don't see how they support that canada is "leaning left". I'm not saying that it isn't (gawd I hope it is) but, the survey doesn't support that. To show a "leaning" one way or the other first there needs to be a point of reference, no? You don't think anyone would be dumb enough to try and use the harper/conservative takeover - winning seats v. votes as one do you?
